Anson is thought to be a prisoner, as he was not known to recross the intrenchments.\u00a0 There is much anxiety about Co. \u201cA\u201d, but they are supposed to be in the timber, where they will have to stay till dark.\u00a0 Lt. J. had a ball pass through the sleeve of his blouse.\u00a0 My prayers for the preservation of my Co. have been richly answered.\u00a0 May we all be grateful to our heavenly Father.\u00a0 The 8<sup>th<\/sup> Vt. Regt. is said to have suffered severely, &amp; the 90<sup>th<\/sup> N.Y. also lost a few men.\u00a0<!--more--> Lt. Brown of Co. \u201cA\u201d came in this afternoon, &amp; reported that the Co. is lying in the timber, near the enemy\u2019s breastworks, &amp; that Capt. Crosby is severely wounded by a musket ball in the abdomen.\u00a0 He is suffering greatly, &amp; thinks the wound is fatal.\u00a0 None of the Company injured.\u00a0 Lt. Col. Putnam, Maj. Brackett &amp; Dr. Huckins[!] start to bring Capt. C. in as soon as it is dark.\u00a0 Lt. Brown was two or three hours in getting out of the timber, &amp; was fired on by the enemy several times.\u00a0 The night will be pretty dark &amp; thus favor the removal of the Capt. &amp; the withdrawal of his men.\u00a0 May God grant that he may recover &amp; be permitted to return to his home.\u00a0 He is very highly esteemed as an officer, &amp; a man, &amp; his condition excites great sympathy throughout the Reg\u2019t.\u00a0 May we all be impressed with the thought of our own frailty, &amp; become reconciled to Him who holds our lives in his hands.\u00a0 Slept under a shelter tent for the first time for about a month.\u00a0 It rained a little during the night.\u00a0 Capt.
