Jackson and Newmarket.\u00a0 Camped about 10 \u00bd o\u2019clock at the foot of the\u00a0Massanutten mountain.\u00a0 Leave at sunrise tomorrow morning to cross the mountain.<\/p>\n<p>Rained very hard last night.\u00a0 Thought I was well sheltered, but found that I had made my bed across a small ditch which soon filled up and was rather unpleasant to lay[!] in, but I went to sleep &amp; woke up at daylight feeling \u201cright side up with care.\u201d[<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archivesspace.bowdoin.edu\/repositories\/2\/resources\/280\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Diary of A.M.
