Picket Reserve.\u00a0 It cleared up this forenoon, and was very pleasant.\u00a0 Went up the line this forenoon.\u00a0 Found the posts very far apart, and the line crooked enough to be military.\u00a0 Purchased 8 eggs at the Alms House for 25 cts.\u00a0 Four fried made me a good meal on my return to the reserve.\u00a0 Just as[i.e., at] dark, returned to the Alms House and got supper.\u00a0 Cabbage, roast pork, corn cake, hard tack, parsnips, butter and coffee.\u00a0 Found the family \u201csecesh.\u201d\u00a0 The old man, the keeper, is naturally despondent, and seems somewhat melancholy.\u00a0 He is a sincere man, a Christian, but deluded.\u00a0 We asked the blessing before we eat supper, the only blessing I have heard (I believe) asked since I left my own dear home.\u00a0 We agreed in this, that differ as we might in regard to other things we must be united in regard to our belief in God.\u00a0 The \u201cHard Shells\u201d predominate in this section.\u00a0 Other societies are found, viz.
