A. Mitchell, of Kenduskeag, who has been in hospital since the middle of January, died last night at 8 o\u2019clock.\u00a0 He has been sinking fast for a week, having been unable to keep any food down, &amp; having no appetite.\u00a0 We buried him by the side of York this afternoon.\u00a0 Thus three of our Co. have passed away since we came to this place, &amp; men of the other Co\u2019s are dying daily.\u00a0 About 6 o\u2019clock this evening a member of Co. K, who has been unwell for some time, while going from his tent to his officer\u2019s quarters fell suddenly, &amp; expired in a few moments.\u00a0 About an hour after in passing the tent I saw them nailing him up in his coffin\u2014so suddenly do men die here, &amp; so hastily are they made ready for the grave.\u00a0 This P.M. a boat arrived from N.O. bringing another mail.\u00a0 No letter came for me, however.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archivesspace.bowdoin.edu\/repositories\/2\/resources\/1540\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Diary of Isaac Winslow Case [Miscellaneous Manuscripts Collection]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thursday.\u00a0 W.
