{"id":704,"date":"2013-03-30T09:00:52","date_gmt":"2013-03-30T14:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/library.bowdoin.edu\/arch\/civil-war-blog\/?p=704"},"modified":"2025-05-19T15:35:00","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T15:35:00","slug":"march-30-1863","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sca.bowdoin.edu\/civil-war-blog\/2013\/03\/30\/march-30-1863\/","title":{"rendered":"March 30, 1863"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Sent off the tents &amp; baggage to the steamer \u201cEmpire Parish\u201d late in the afternoon, &amp; pitched shelter tents to spend the night in.\u00a0 the weather today has been cool, &amp; this evening there is a very cold wind from the north.\u00a0 Stowed ourselves in the little tents &amp; passed a tolerable night, tho\u2019 some of the men suffered with the cold.\u00a0 The Chaplain returned yesterday from B[aton] Rouge &amp; informed me of the death of Corp. Titcomb.\u00a0 He died at the Measles Hosp. &amp; the Chaplain attended his funeral.\u00a0 Lt.\u00a0 Richards took charge of his effects &amp; will send them to Titcomb\u2019s uncle in Bangor.\u00a0 Wrote a letter to T. H. Wiggin of Levant, informing him of T\u2019s death, &amp; giving him some account of his sickness.\u00a0 I also wrote to Mrs. Gerald in regard to the sickness &amp; death of her husband.<br \/>\nFinished my letter to Father, &amp; sent it off.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/archivesspace.bowdoin.edu\/repositories\/2\/resources\/1540\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Diary of Isaac Winslow Case [Miscellaneous Manuscripts Collection]<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Monday.
