In this group portrait of the Medical School of Maine class of 1869, Joseph Louville Bennett is identified as the second from left. Dr. Bennett (1842-1926) served in the 23rd Maine Volunteers and the 7th Maine Battery during the Civil War before graduating from Bowdoin in the Class of 1866. He then completed his medical studies and practiced medicine between Massachusetts and rural Maine until his death.
