{"id":2,"date":"2020-06-12T13:03:49","date_gmt":"2020-06-12T13:03:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sca.bowdoin.edu\/medical-school-of-maine\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2021-02-24T14:23:35","modified_gmt":"2021-02-24T14:23:35","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/sca.bowdoin.edu\/medical-school-of-maine\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<h5 style=\"text-align: center\">Just months after <a href=\"https:\/\/sca.bowdoin.edu\/state-of-maine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maine separated from Massachusetts in 1820<\/a>, the Medical School of Maine was established at Bowdoin College to provide for health care in the new state.<\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center\">During its 100 years of existence, the school educated physicians who not only served the state but also practiced medicine across the world. His Medical Library \n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<hr>\n<p><em><strong>A Note on Sources: <\/strong>The materials in Bowdoin\u2019s historical collections routinely reflect dominant perspectives due to historical collecting practices. It is the work of scholars, librarians, and archivists to build representative collections and to read through the absences to build a broader understanding of our history. Documents from the College Archives reflect the fact that Bowdoin College was an all-male institution until 1971 with predominately white students, faculty, and administration.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>This exhibition draws on the rare book, manuscript, and archival collections of the <a href=\"https:\/\/library.bowdoin.edu\/arch\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">George J.
