Bowdoin’s Governing Boards officially approved the implementation of coeducation on September 25, 1970. The College sought to expand its student body to 1,250 and planned to bring 300 women to campus by 1975 to create a 3:1 men to women ratio among students. In this notice, the Dean of Students announces the College will begin its transition to coeducation and indicates that Bowdoin will welcome “daughters” to campus in the fall of 1971.
