Fifteen years after coeducation, students were advocating for a designated Women’s studies program at Bowdoin with a curriculum that centered women’s history and perspectives, introducing “her-story” to the traditional “his-story.” In this letter, Caroline Westort and Liz Brimmer, both Class of 1986, invite Bowdoin’s faculty to the Women’s Resource Center to share feedback on the Women's studies program proposal. A Women’s studies minor was established in 1988, and the major was introduced in 1992.
