A Space for Sexuality, Women, and Gender
The Women’s Resource Center (WRC) was established in 1980 at 24 College Street following efforts from the Bowdoin Women’s Association advocating for a space dedicated to women. The WRC provided a meeting space for discussion groups, a library of books written by and about women, and the offices of the Bowdoin Women’s Association and the Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (RCSGD). In 2017, the WRC and the RCSGD combined to form the Sexuality, Women, and Gender Center (SWAG). SWAG raises awareness of issues relating to sexuality and gender and cultivates a community of support for women and queer students.
