Books tell stories beyond their words. Drawing upon Bowdoin College’s spectacular rare book collection, this exhibition explores how typography, illustration, printing, binding, and other physical aspects of the book bear witness to cultural, social and historical innovation.
Bound and Determined: The Remarkable Physical History of the Book is on view August 30, 2017 through January 16, 2018 in the second floor gallery of the Hawthorne-Longfellow Library at Bowdoin College and is open to the Bowdoin community and general public during Library hours.
A series of exhibit related events begins with a lecture by noted author and bibliophile Nicholas Basbanes and opening reception on August 30, 2017. See Events page for more information.
