Shoot, Snap, Instagram: A History of Photography, a student-curated exhibition, brings together a diverse body of photographic material from the holdings of Special Collections & Archives to offer fresh perspectives on the history of photography.
Driven by student research, the exhibition is organized around themes including intimacy, stream of consciousness, identity, and, social justice, and presents personal snapshots, student yearbooks, artists’ books, and early photographs.
Moving from the advent of the practice to today’s proliferation of digital images, the material in this exhibition articulates the centrality of photography in our everyday lives at Bowdoin College and beyond.
On view January 25-June 5, 2017, 2nd Floor Gallery, Hawthorne-Longfellow Library.
